INSIDE OF MY….HAT

First off, my deepest apologies for being M.I.A….midterms at school and a recent death in the family had me kind of tied up. Alas, I am back and ready to share with you all!

About a month ago, we had our annual woman’s day at my church and all of the ladies were encouraged to wear hats as a tribute of sorts to the women who came before us. I must admit, I do not like to wear my hair off of my face. I RARELY wear my hair in buns or ponytails. The thought of my full, chubby face on display for the world to see gives me the heebie jeebies. My confidence is not where it needs to be but I am working on it. Also, I subscribe to the Wendy William’s school of thought: The bigger the hair, the slimmer the hips. So, suffice it to say, I was not exactly happy with the hat idea. Sunday rolled around, I really toyed with the idea of not wearing the hat but I figured that I didn’t wanna be the only woman without one. So, here goes nothing:

I don’t know what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, but here in San Diego it is rainy and cold, which means that it is time to break out the BOOTS!  Usually I stick to a boot that is usually leather, black or brown, and stops right below the knee. So, in other words the boots that I usually wear are dependable but BORING! I’m ready to step out of my box and while I am at it, step my boot game all the way up. Have you started wearing your boots yet? Here are a few options and designers to consider:

I love me some Ledisi. Not only can she SANG,but she is beautiful and warm. She recently sat down with Concreteloop and talked about the industry and staying true to herself:

And if it sounds stupid or looks stupid, it won’t be natural like, ‘That was great, Led. Next!’ (laughs) That’s why I’m able to sing. People can relate. Due to her afro-centeric look and curvy figure, I am sure that she has endured her share of industry “suggestions” to look and be a certain way. The good thing is, she is still standing! Go Ledisi!

Jennifer Hudson Unveils Weight Watchers Clinic

Singer/Actress ( and former curvy queen) Jennifer Hudson has opened a Weight Watchers center in the south side of Chicago.  Both women and men will have the opportunity to attend meetings, get weight loss support, etc at Jenny’s new place. How sweet! I wonder if the personal chef and trainer that got Jennifer to where she is today comes along with registration.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, J-hud gushes: “”I never thought I would make it to have my own center, I’m so honored to be here and see this day.”

Twenty percent of the revenue raised at the center will be donated to the Julian D. King foundation which honors the memory of her slain nephew.

TLC Cancel’s BIG SEXY’

Well, I can’t say that I didn’t see this coming. A few weeks ago, I posted that reality-show driven channel TLC was adding a show that documented big girls trying to make in the modeling industry in New York. Now, not even a month later they are canceling the show. Figures. There is a need for shows like Big Sexy’ on television. You mean to tell me that TLC can promote a show about a bunch of women who call themselves sisters, are married to and have babies by the same man, but are not willing to show women who love their bodies and look like the average American Woman? It’s an outrage! Okay that might have been a little dramatic, but it ain’t right. What are your thoughts?

Sears adds new “Women’s Plus” Line…

If you are a curvy queen then you know that many clothing stores often limit their full-figured clothing to a small section of their store (read: Forever 21, Target, etc). That is if they even offer plus size clothing at all. Now, I know your probably thinking that Sears isn’t exactly the number one place for fashionista’s, but they have definitely stepped their game up where their “plus” line is concerned. Imagine that!
